Ightham Mote | Kent
Ightham Mote is an incredible 14th century moated manor house situated close to the village of Ightham. (Ightham rhymes with Nightham, if you were struggling to know how to pronounce this odd word.) It's remarkable that this 14th century house is still standing and it's so incredibly pretty with it's half-timbering, it's moat and the beautiful, romantic gardens.
The house is part of the wider Ightham estate which has three really nice walks for dogs through the pretty, shady, ancient woods and down the quiet lanes. Being owned by National Trust the house naturally has an excellent tea shop. Dogs are allowed in the tea shop and the estate but not in the gardens or the house.
The house is a fifteen minute drive from Sevenoaks station and although it's super quick to get to Sevenoaks from London there doesn't seem to be any public transport from the station so you will probably have to drive.
