May's Day Trip | Daylesford & Adlestrop
One of the best ways to cope with life in a big city is to make sure you leave it as often as possible. With this aim in mind we have created a series of Bleak House guides called ‘An Hour and A Million Miles’. This is a set of twelve day trips from London designed to inspire you leave the city for a few hours and soak up some countryside. Each trip is only an hour or so from London but you will feel like you’ve travelled a million miles, and possibly back a couple of centuries too.
Our May guide is a trip to the Cotswolds for a hearty walk and spot of lunch. At this time of year you will see banks of primroses, fields of gambolling spring lambs and more daffodils than you could shake a stick at.
The walk starts at the Daylesford farm shop just outside Kingham and is around an hour and half from London. With excellent food and a lovely homewares store, Daylesford is a great place of hang out before or after your walk. The walk also takes in the brilliant The Fox at Oddington and so you can start and end the walk there if you fancy a pub lunch instead.
Everything you need to know for your trip to Ightham Mote is in our guide which you can download by signing up to our Red Book email by entering your email address in the form below. We hope you love our new series of guides. Please do let us know about any trips you take. If you share your walk on instagram please do tag us @bleakhouse.london as we'd love to see your photos.
