June's London Walk | Richmond Riverside
Conker London is a series of 12 free London walks, one for each month of the year. These seasonal walks are designed to help you get to know your city a little better. The walks weave through the prettier, quieter and more interesting streets, far away from the busy main thoroughfares. The walks are hand drawn and come with full instructions.
June’s walk is a rather un-taxing amble along the pretty stretch of the river at Richmond-upon-Thames. The walk starts and ends at Richmond tube but if you prefer you can drive to Marble Hill Park and pick the walk up from there.
This circular walk is one the best ways to get out of the city and soak up some countryside without having to actually leave London at all. With its handsome Georgian townhouses, cute wysteria-clad cottages, gorgeous riverside pubs and luscious green riverbank, Richmond is very pretty and has a fun, summer vibe and it’s easy to feel like you are on holiday for a couple of hours.
The main high street at Richmond is pretty grim, it’s choked by homogenous chain stores, but once you turn off the main street into the little lanes it’s very pretty indeed and you will feel like you have stepped back in time.
Everything you need to know for the walk is in our guide which you can download by signing up to our Red Book email.
