Conker London: Columbia Road to Spitalfields Walk
CONKER LONDON: MAY
COLUMBIA ROAD TO SPITALFIELDS
Conker London is a series of 12 free London walks, one for each month of the year. These seasonal walks are designed to help you get to know your city a little better. The walks weave through the prettier, quieter and more interesting streets, far away from the busy main thoroughfares. The walks are hand drawn and come with full instructions.
MAY: COLUMBIA ROAD TO SPITALFIELDS
An early Sunday morning stroll through three of London’s most famous and busiest markets. From Columbia Road to Brick Lane and Spitalfields, this area has been shaped by immigrant communites over the last four hundred years. Curry houses, Jewish bakeries and Huguenot weavers’ cottages make this part of London entirely unique and special.
The walk starts at Hoxton station and is best on a Sunday morning when the flower market is open. From here have brunch and while away the time until the shops open in the late morning. We suggest arriving at the flower market no later than 9.15 am to protect your sanity from the crowds.
