Devon 2019 Launch
BLEAK HOUSE EXPERIENCES 2019
SPRING IN DEVON
25TH to 29TH MARCH 2019 / CHILLINGTON, SOUTH DEVON
AN ENCHANTING TRIP FOR ADVENTUROUSLY SPIRITED WOMEN
A chance to reward your hard work and achievements and reinvigorate your creative spirit. Immerse yourself in nature, surround yourself with beauty, make new friends and treat yourself to a most wonderful adventure.
AN IMMERSIVE, ALL-INCLUSIVE ADVENTURE
An unforgettable and enriching four days spent with like-minded women in beautiful Devon on the South Coast of England. This experience has been carefully created to show you some of the wonders of this atmospheric county and to give you the time, space and creative stimulation to return refreshed and inspired having made new friends and special memories.
We will discover a different side of Devon, far from the crowds of summer, a place where the hedgerows are carpeted with primroses and the undulating green hills are home to gambolling lambs. In the early Spring the tourists are yet to arrive and the shady lanes and pretty thatched villages are quiet and peaceful. The beaches are deserted and the pubs are fire-lit and cosy. We will lose ourselves in the present and immerse ourselves in the past. Our trip will be a perfect mix of faultless modernity and irresistible history.
We will eat excellent food in ancient pubs and ramshackle beach huts, we will take trips on little ferry boats and iconic sea tractors. We will visit Agatha Christie’s surprisingly emotive and picturesque home Greenway, and experience the enigmatic charm of Burgh Island. We will amble along gorgeous beaches, and take swims in the sea for those who wish to.
We will be staying in a beautiful Georgian house where your every need will be taken care of. A series of creative workshops and talks will help you make the most of your trip and all of your future adventures too. We will sit by the fire, share stories and forge friendships that will last long into the future.
”Oh my gosh, I've been telling all my friends about the first Bleak House Devon Experience, and if you're on the fence at all you need to jump off and just do it!! We spent the most lovely week exploring this sweetest spot of the UK under Annabel's expert guidance. As the only American, I couldn't have felt more welcomed or more satisfied with such a beautifully British experience.” - Lauren Keim, Photographer, Virginia, USA

You will be looked after all week, and the only decisions you will have to make are whether to sit by the fire with a book, chat to a new friend over a glass of wine or retire early to your comfortable bed.
There are just seven places available and early booking is essential.
”I’ve not stopped thinking about my first Bleak House Experience since I got back! It was just what I needed to relax and recharge after a hectic year. I was nervous to be sharing a room and house with 5 women I didn't know, but it was amazing how quickly we all bonded and I feel I've made some lifelong friends. Sharing the fabulous views and adventures with like minded women is something I'll cherish forever. Thank you Annabel for a wonderful week, can't wait for the next one!” - Kelly Sparkes, Wordpress mentor, Hertfordshire
”I went on the Devon retreat hoping to meet other Agatha Christie fans. In the end I got much more out of Annabel’s Bleak House experience. I met new friends, found inspiration and learnt new skills in only 4 days. I encourage all my friends to take some time off their very busy schedule to enjoy being cared for and being more present”. - Nat Aubry, Freelance Content Creator, Hertfordshire

Making decisions this experience is designed to give you a break from making decisions and having to do the endless and exhausting research that holidays often entail. You can relax, knowing everything we have chosen is of the highest quality and chosen with style, beauty and enjoyment in mind.
Crowds, noise, bustle and stress at this time of year Devon is quiet, relaxing and serene.
''The effects of being away from London, work, and everything else really surprised me. Having no decisions to make, other than whether you want to go for a walk or read a book by fire, really puts everything in perspective, and meeting new people gives you new perspectives. I came back to London with so much energy and clarity. I'd been to Agatha Christie's Greenway before, but I'd never travelled there by steam train or played her piano!'' - Jenna Riffell, Strategy Consultant, London
We will be staying in a handsome seven bedroom Grade II listed Georgian house located in the pretty village of Chillington, near Salcombe in South Devon. This elegant home is set in one acre of quiet grounds complete with a walled garden and wooden swings from which all you can hear is the sound of spring birdsong. The house dates from the 1600s and has been renovated sympathetically and decorated sumptuously. It’s utterly, utterly gorgeous - the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary - and you won’t want to ever leave.
You can choose between a single occupancy room or share a room with another guest. Each room is individually and luxuriously decorated and is either en-suite or shares a Jack-and-Jill bathroom with one other room (bathrooms are shared between a maximum of three guests).
”It was WONDERFUL. Balm for the over-busy soul. And for once I didn't have to organise anyone or anything and everything that was subtly organised was 'top notch'. If you're hesitating go for it - you won't regret it. ENJOY.” - Bernadette Skehan, Accountant, London
