THE MOST STYLISH WAY TO GIVE YOURSELF THE ADVENTURE YOU DESERVE

An unforgettable and inspirational four days spent with like-minded women in Devon on the South Coast of England. Designed to show you some of the wonders of this lovely county and give you the time, space and creative stimulation to return refreshed and inspired having made new friends and wonderful memories.

In the Autumn the tourists have departed and the shady lanes and pretty villages are quiet and peaceful. The beaches are deserted and the pubs are fire-lit and cosy. We will discover a different side of Devon, far from the crowds of summer, with space to hear the stories of inspiring people of the past who have so much to teach us about vision, freedom and passion.

We will be staying in a fairytale thatched cottage within skipping distance of the sea where you can wander the hedgerow-lined lanes, amble down to the little cove and sit by the fire listening to stories and chatting to new-found friends. As well as having plenty of time to relax and enjoy the cottage our days will be filled with creative workshops and trips to explore the beaches, sub-tropical gardens, historical houses, literary locations and ancient pubs of this most beautiful part of England.

It’s a chance to make memories, share stories and forge new friendships with a small group of like-minded women. There are just six places available on our first Experience and early booking is essential.

The Plan

The trip is designed to allow plenty of breathing space to unwind and relax as well as inspiring and fun trips to soak up the beauty of Devon. The itinerary may be tweaked and shuffled as the finer details are arranged.

TUESDAY 16TH OCTOBER: SETTLE IN & DECOMPRESS

A day to recalibrate, take a breath and prepare for an incredible few days ahead. Unpack, explore the house and garden, meet your fellow guests and take a moment to enjoy the peace and quiet of this secluded location.

Our adventure begins with scones and tea and a welcome talk by Annabel. After this there will be a creative workshop on travel journalling, showing simple ways we can document and treasure the memories we make on this and our future adventures.

In the early evening we head down to the sea for a sunset drink and return to the cottage for a simple supper with side orders of laughter and inspiring stories. After supper we each will make the difficult decision between succumbing to the temptations of a thick duvet, sitting by the fireside watching the flickering flames or gazing at the stars from the warmth of the cedar hot tub in the garden.

WEDNESDAY 17TH OCTOBER: EXPLORE & RELAX

We start with an early trip to a beach to take a contemplative walk, sit and watch the waves or even take a cold swim. If you prefer to relax at the cottage instead that’s fine too. Later in the morning we have a photography workshop by a hugely talented photographer to show you simple ways to capture the essence of your adventures more easily and beautifully.

A delicious and hearty lunch will be followed by a trip to Overbeck’s, a Victorian manor house with sub-tropical gardens and an unrivalled view of the Salcombe ria. You can choose the long or short route back to the cottage for tea, taking in as much as you wish of this world-renowned coastal path.

After pre-dinner drinks we head to an atmospheric local pub for an excellent dinner created especially for us with local ingredients and locals wines and then we return to the cottage to the fireside, hot tub or our comfortable beds.

THURSDAY 18TH OCTOBER: A DARTMOUTH ADVENTURE

Today we immerse ourselves in the Devon of Agatha Christie, the world’s best-selling author, with a trip to her picturesque summer house Greenway.

We arrive late morning and will have plenty of time to explore the house and gardens and walk down to the the famous boathouse and the battery, featured in Dead Man’s Folly and Five Little Pigs. We will eat a delicious lunch, taking in the gorgeous views over the river Dart.

We return home to our cottage for tea in the afternoon and have some quiet time to relax. We meet again in the early evening for an inspiring talk with drinks and a celebratory dinner, cooked for us by a private chef using local, seasonal ingredients.

After dinner it’s time to make the most of the fire-side and hot tub for our final evening together.

FRIDAY 19TH OCTOBER: DISCOVER BURGH ISLAND

We say fond goodbyes to our cottage at 10am and make our way down to Hope Cove to have a final wander around this pretty little village.

We travel on to Bigbury-on-Sea where we cross the beach by foot or by the famous sea tractor, depending on the tide, to reach Burgh Island, the setting for two of Agatha Christie’s most famous books, ‘And Then There Were None’ and ‘Evil Under the Sun’.

After a refreshing walk around the island we stop for a drink at the 700 year old smugglers’ pub The Pilchard Inn before retuning to the mainland.

We move a little further up the estuary to the excellent Oyster Shack for a farewell lunch where our adventure comes to a close and memories are sealed forever.

THE SETTING

We will be staying in a luxury thatched cottage just outside the pretty seaside village of Hope Cove, near Salcombe in South Devon. Our cottage is the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary with sloping ceilings, whitewashed walls, flagstone floors, real fires and an Aga, as well as a cedar wood hot tub and bluetooth speakers and other modern necessities. There are waxed jackets and wellies on hand but hopefully we won’t be needing those at all.
